I’ve created a new store on Payhip for all my books. The Payhip store link can be found below.
The payhip store has most of my ebooks available for purchase and download. The links for the ebooks on this website now point to my payhip store. I would like to eventually put some of my audiobooks up there too for sale and download. My goal is to only have maybe the paperbacks up on Amazon going forward. But then I might just switch to lulu.com for the print books and give Amazon the old heave ho!
I’ve made this decision based on some of Amazon’s somewhat recent shady behavior. First, they hide new authors’ books unless those authors join the Kindle Unlimited Program locking them into an exclusive contract (where they only make pennies on the dollar). Second, they are forcing DRM on everyone even those like me who opt out of that feature for my self-published books. An extension of this is taking away your ability to download the digital books you have bought from Amazon and convert them into another format (like epub). This limits your ability to get an ebook reader from one of Amazon’s competitors like Kobo (who primarily use the epub format). The final straw was Amazon banning one of my books yet again (Vile Hunger 2). I get it Amazon! That book by design is pretty smutty. But who the hell are you to decided what I can write and publish? I’ve concluded that Amazon, while convenient, is not a good platform for self-published or new author’s to get noticed. Then of course there is Rings of Power, which is something I will never forgive Amazon for.
